After a couple of weeks full of Cannes festival fashion feed, it would be impossible and almost rude to ignore the news. The whole film festival, always a very beautiful, glamorous and exciting event – located in the French Riviera, in the end of the May, just as summer starts – is like a taste of what’s coming in the next few months.
There is, however, one event during that festival, that needs a special recognition – be it because of the way its organized, or the attendees, or the venue, or especially this year, because of the Great Gatsby obsession that has taken over the world – the amfAR gala.
It is an annual Cinema against AIDS gala that this year celebrated its 20th anniversary remarkably. Established by Elizabeth Taylor it is one of Cannes biggest parties. Held at the legendary Eden Roc Hotel, this year, hosted by Sharon Stone, the evening included a dinner, a fashion show, organized by Carine Roitfeld, and an auction, raising money to fight AIDS. It was one of amfAR most successful benefit events to date.
It does sound like a regular gala really, however, going through the news coverage, you will notice that it looks exactly like the Great Gatsby movie. Check out the backstage and instagram photos that we stumbled upon and enjoy! My head is already in the clouds!
